“For anyone who is inspired to have more compassion, understanding and harmony in their lives and in our world”

From Thom:

“The Compassion Course” is the result of my last 28 years as a writer and trainer, and the past 15 years, studying, living and teaching Nonviolent Communication (NVC). It’s my way of making the skills of compassionate living available to anyone, regardless of time and money constraints.

The 2015 Compassion Course (that is in progress) has almost 4,000 participants from over 90 countries. For five years running, this course has proven to be “life-changing”, “fun” and “transformational” (check out the quotes below).

How It Works

Through weekly email messages, the course imparts concepts, stories and practices that empower us to be more compassionate. We learn clear practices that help us and those around us, have more understanding and well-being in our lives (see sample weeks below). The lessons explain and demonstrate ways of thinking, speaking and acting that allow us to get through conflict without hurting or hating.

As a global community, we share resources including links and exercises, message forums, conference calls and enjoy a sense of connection and expanded learning while preserving personal space and time. The weekly email messages will include access to multiple message boards, access to archived messages, conference call recordings, documents, video content, special exercise pages and more.

Why It Works

In the same way that we humans have developed other technologies, the technology of compassion has developed too. This course provides clear, specific ideas and practices to help us experience more compassion, understanding, harmony and fun. That said, it ischallenging and calls on our perseverance, practice, focus and dedication.

Through practical steps, the course provides the “how to” of creating more connection, understanding and compassion in our daily lives… a way to create a world we will be happy to leave our children’s children.

It is my honor and dream to share this with you for a fifth year. I hope you will join me.

*warm grateful smile*

Thom

Content Overview

The Course starts with foundational concepts and practices that help us understand what engenders compassion and what blocks it. As the year progresses, we work with more advanced practices and processes that help us bring more compassion into our everyday lives.

Throughout the course we work on progressively deepening levels with self-empathy, empathy, emotional triggers, anger, beliefs, dialog, appreciation, requests and more. By the end of the year, the course covers over 50 concepts and differentiations.

The 2015 Course will be delivered in English, German and Arabic.

Weekly Messages

All Weekly Messages include:

1) A concept to learn

2) A story to illustrate the concept

3) Practices to integrate the concept into your life

4) Links to reference materials and important updates

Conference Calls

As part of the course, Thom hosts 12, monthly 45-minute conference calls for the English speaking Community. These calls support our journey by providing depth and clarity.

Carefully trained and supported Course Facilitators host the calls where it is offered in other languages.

All calls are recorded and may be listened to at any time throughout the course. Recording links are posted within the weekly messages for those who don’t attend or those who would like to review.

Online Community

We have community members from all around the world and from all walks of life. How do we get together?

All Compassion Course participants can be part of our Private Online Facebook group and Forum. Both are a great way to connect our community 24/7. This year we will be adding video content as well.

Participants who share their experiences in the course, get deeper learning, support, inspiration and fun.

The Schedule

Each week, a new message is published via email. The first message will be published on June 24th, 2015 with subsequent weekly installments published on subsequent Wednesdays. The course will last for 52 weeks, ending in June 2017.

What People Are Saying

“If I gave appreciation for everything Thom Bond has contributed to me, I wouldn’t have time for anything else.”
— Marshall Rosenberg

“I wholeheartedly endorse and will recommend The Compassion Course to anyone who is new to NVC and to people who want to deepen and integrate the skills and consciousness.”
— Robert Gonzales, CNVC Certified Trainer – living-compassion.org

“It has changed my life radically, I’m still amazed. Relationships that were stuck in old patterns have become fluid, caring and loving. Perhaps, at sixty-six, to find a new love with my husband, a warmth and closeness with my children, it all seems like a miracle.”
— Compassion Course Participant

“Thom normalizes NVC. He shows it’s possible to do in everyday life.”
— Mike M.

“I’m communicating, listening/responding to others, and shifting the ways I think about my own feelings. I’ve had some big breakthroughs with my partner using some of the language I’ve learned; and have been able to see some intense feelings around my family as signals of needs I can address in my own life. And this is just the beginning…”
— Deb C.

“Thom’s style as teacher is one that is filled with personal stories and examples that are meaningful and thoughtful. He does not place himself above anyone else.”
— Elizabeth C.

“Wahhhhhh Thom! I thought introspective awareness was a specialty I had received during 23 years of regular meditation and spiritual studies. However, without this Compassion Course, I would have never discovered alone, the depth of thinking regarding judgments. I have been trying so many things to realize the ignorance of a judgmental attitude, but the seed was still in me… just because I never experienced the Inner Power and the Wisdom that comes from understanding needs.”
— 2012 Compassion Course Participant.

“Working with Thom has changed my life. Really.”
— Nellie B.

“I could take this course for the rest of my life, and I might.”
— Barbara L.
